Role
| Serve as prime DBA for Oracle and Netezza for various internal implementations and ongoing operations including user administration and backup.
Set up of database instances in multiple servers in a shared database environment. Monitor, troubleshoot and tune databases to ensure optimum performance. |
Responsibilities
| Set up of Oracle 10g and 11g in multiple servers shared database environments.
Operate and support Netezza as an EDW (i.e. deploying DDL, backup, replication, re-indexing, ) Monitor and tune Oracle databases to ensure optimum performance. Design and administer database security and user access profiles. Set up and document operational procedures (maintenance, user administration, etc) specific to the operation of Oracle in a shared application environment. Monitor and enforce the usage of the procedures. Implement data archiving strategy and procedures for all database servers operating the shared application environment. Provide technical guidance to the Information Systems team in the investigation, analysis and resolution of database problems. |
Skills
| Ability to learn new leading edge technologies
Strong knowledge of relational database technology and solid SQL programming skills Knowledge in Unix/Linux operating systems and shell scripting Ability to handle multiple priorities simultaneously, and work to implement new ideas to automate procedures Team player with client oriented focus Excellent written and verbal communication skills Strong knowledge of Database Managements systems in Linux environment Database development using SQL, UNIX Shell scripts or Perl Experience with Netezza TwinFin setup and configuration. Experience with Netezza performance tuning including query optimization. Provide Security configuration/setup recommendations. |
Preconditions

Desirable Skills/Competencies
| Exposure to other Databases a plus.
Exposure in Real Application Cluster. Expertise in Data guard Expertise in RMAN Strong knowledge of UNIX shell or Perl scripting languages. Strong knowledge of SQL/SQL*Plus and strong understanding of PL/SQL and stored procedures/pkgs. Recent Oracle* DBA certification would be an added advantage |
